It was with a sense of disbelief that I learned of Gordon's untimely and tragic passing. It is difficult to believe that someone with his drive and vitality is taken much too early. He had a lot of living yet to do. My heart and sincere sympathy goes to each member of the Smith family.
I was very pleased to see the beautiful picture and write-up in The Telegram last Saturday. My daughter, Lois Follett, has been a tenent for the past five years, but I have had a connection with the Smith family since childhood. My dad, Harold Dale taught all "Aunt Hazel's" children and I grew up near Mrs. Smith. In the early '80's when Mom, Dad, my children and I holidayed in Ontario, we visited Grace, Earl, and Mrs. Smith in Niagara Falls. That reconnection has remained up to the present. Therefore, I feel almost like Gord was in some way connected to our family through his extended family.
My thoughts and prayers are with each of you at this time.

Sylvia & Family, I was shocked to hear Gord had suddenly passed away. I favourably remember Gord as a hard working person in his well established family business. I was manager at the Scotiabank branch (1988/1996) and recall the many pleasantries we enjoyed.
Life brings tears, smiles and memories. The tears dry, the smiles fade but the memories live on forever".

We are sorry to hear of Gordon's passing. I was one of the hockey people who attended the Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador Annual General Meeting held in Marystown in 2002. It was a good weekend and a well run and productive event because of the hard work and leadership shown by Gordon. I did not get to know Gordon personally but because he was a good hockey volunteer I see him as a friend. On behalf of Junior Hockey in Newfoundland and Labrador I offer you our condolences.
