Obituary of Don Francis Brown

Passed peacefully away on Thursday, February 4, 2016, after a long, courageous battle with cancer and surrounded by his loving family, Donaitus (Don) Brown of Mortier in his 70th year. He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Phyllis; daughters Donna (Gerry Cook), St. John’s and Vanessa (Justin Corcoran), Brooks, Alberta; his precious grandchildren Brandon, Amber, and Cameron; brothers Jack (Brenda) and family, Mortier; Patrick (Alice) and family, Marystown; brother-in-law Nick Kennedy (Mabel), Mortier; sisters-in-law Gertrude Brown, Mortier; Stella (Freeman Clarke), Burin; and Kathleen Brown, St. John’s; as well as many special nieces, nephews, close family relatives, and a large circle of friends. Predeceased by his mother and father, John and Margaret Brown; brothers Daniel and Aloysius, mother-in-law Elizabeth Kennedy; sisters-in-law Melita Kennedy and Vera Murphy. Resting at Serenity Funeral Home, Burin, on Saturday, February 6, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon (family only) and 1 – 9 p.m.; Sunday, February 8, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral mass to take place from St. Patrick’s Church, Burin, on Monday, February 8, 2016, 10 a.m. with interment following at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fox Cove. No flowers by request of the family. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Patrick’s Parish Building Fund.
