Obituary of Sylvia Mae Moulton

It is with broken hearts the family announce the unexpected passing of Sylvia Mae Baker Moulton of Burin at the age of 72 years on September 6, 2018 after a short illness.
Sylvia grew up in Epworth, in a family of faith and love. She spoke often of cousins who were more like siblings. Early days were spent at the little United church in Epworth where her foundation of faith and music ministry began. In 1966 she married the love of her life, started a family and joined The Salvation Army where a life of love and faith continued. Sylvia gave countless hours to her church in Burin through children's , women's and music ministry.
For 34 years she was known as the face and voice at Dr Edgar Mayo's clinic.  They worked together to provide the best health care they could to the friends she met there.
In retirement, she loved her summers at the cabin, enjoying visits from friends and family near and far. Instead of the demands of work, days and hours were spent sewing and knitting, creating many quilts and gifts that will be treasured by family and friends forever. The time she was blessed to spend at the old library quilters group brought her much enjoyment and close friendships.
More recent years saw her teach vacation bible school at The Salvation Army St. John's Citadel and apart of the music ministry at The Salvation Army Grand Bank. Her ministry went beyond her own church to providing music at area churches, funerals, retirement home visits and countless gospel concerts she had been involved with across the burin peninsula.
Sylvia expressed an unwavered strong faith in the days leading to her death. She knew whatever the outcome, God was in control.
She leaves to mourn her husband of 52 years, Samuel who was by her side to the end. Son James -Sheri-lynn and beloved granddaughter Jenna, daughter Lynette-Deon, sister Suzanne-Austin, brother Leroy-Phyllis, sister-in-law Gertrude, sister-in-law Joy-Ron, sister-in-law Major Tina-Cecil, special Aunts Hazel and Elizabeth, nieces, nephews, cousins  and a large circle of family and friends.

Predeceased by parents Margaret and Scott Bake and brothers John and Carlson (Bub).
The family will forever be grateful to Dr Edgar Mayo and the team of nurses at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre along with Dr. Robert Hewitt, Dr. Organ, Dr. Popadivk, Dr. Pam Pike, Dr. Ken Ledez and the team at 5 South B, Health Sciences Centre. Your love, care and compassion went above and beyond.

Family will be accepting visitors Saturday and Sunday from 2-5pm and 7-9pm.

Funeral service to take place on Monday, September 10th at 2PM fromThe Salvation Army Faith and Hope Corps, Creston with interment following at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Salmonier.
