Mrs. Stanley, Doug, and families.......I was shocked to hear of Mr. Stanley’s passing today. I guess I was more shocked to see that he was 82! He always seemed larger than life to me. He had a presence that not everyone possesses. Whenever I went to Burin Pharmacy and he was there, we always had a yarn. Like myself, he was never stuck for words. John was never surprised if I was gone for an hour or longer. We have joked about life, health, medications and a few other things that don’t need to be made public. As Rhonda’s husband said, he was stubborn but it was that stubbornness that made him into the hard working man that he was. I could always share a joke (clean or dirty) with him. Sending condolences and thinking of you all during your loss! Barb & John Moore

Mrs. Stanley (Chris) Donna and Brian and the entire Stanley family; Lorraine and I were so surprised and saddened to hear of "Ern's" passing. We were always happy and eager to spend a few moments with Mr. and Mrs. Stanley on their visits to Donna and Brian's in Bay Roberts. Mr. Stanley was such a strait shooter, telling it like it was and standing up to it. A confident, intelligent, hard working and generous man, never afraid to share his opinion. Knowing Mrs. Stanley as I do, I'm sure this was cause for a few interesting exchanges over the years. (sorry Chris, loves ya ) You didn't have to know Mr. Stanley very well or for very long before learning how proud he was of all of his family. I'm sure you will all find comfort in this difficult time in knowing Mr. Stanley was such a well liked gentleman and an all around great individual. He will surely be missed. God bless you all.

Being the son-in-law, going to the Stanley house was a little nerve racking the first time. Now Rhonda and I were living together and we went to Burin to meet the family. Well even though we were living together, we thought it best I sleep down stairs. The next morning I wake up and Mr. Stanley comes down and asks how did I sleep, I said "OK" but it was a bit bumpy. Mr. Stanley says something like "OHH I wonder why, lets look under the bed". When we did he showed me two shot guns and some other long rifles and he said "MAYBE these are the reason you did not sleep well". Well I got his point very quickly :).
We will miss Ern's amazing Birthday and Christmas cards, they truly were the high light of my birthday and the girls birthdays also. Anything that was sent from Burin was sent in a package with a LOT OF LOVE AND CARE and always looked amazing and inviting to open.
Thank you for all you have done Ern and you should be very proud of what you have been able to achieve in your lifetime, you have had an amazing life!!! (OK the only trait I wish you had not passed onto your kids is your stubborness :) )
Miss you, Flemming Friisdahl!!

Chris, Doug, Rhonda , Ernie, Donna , our deepest and sincere condolences to you , your family and friends. So sad to hear about his passing. There is much to say about This wonderful man.
He was a great neighbour, a terrific boss,a great friend , the best pharmacist a community could ask for. Ern and our dad were great friends and made many wonderful memories. Your father wrote a beautiful letter about their friendship and tucked it inside his sympathy card when he attended his funeral.
To the family, Ern was a kind man and a true gentleman, he always put others before himself. He will undoubtedly be missed by the INKPEN family and the community. He was the pillar of our community and will be deeply missed.Your family is in our prayers.
To Ern, Mr. Stanley
We are better for knowing you. May you be as blessed in the next life, our dearest friend, as We the Inkpen’s were in this one by knowing YOU !!
