Edwin and I are so sorry for your loss. Our hearts are heavy today. What an incredible man Curt was and always a part of our lives. Many a story was told and will be remembered of Curt. His love of the sea was well known and talked about but his greatest love and accomplishment was his love of his wife, children and their families. Nothing came before family. Curt was a friend to all and no matter where we would meet him , you were made special and always a good conversation and a few laughs was had in his presence. He was a man who lived his life with pride and dignity and he left this world the same way. Farewell Captain Curt, your anchor is now down in peaceful harbours

Many condolences from Englsnd. I had the great privilege of working with Capt Curt back in the dsys of Fishery Products International. There were some great seafarers and fishermen in that group and he was to the fore amongst his peers. In your grief remember he was amongst the best. God love him.

I have many fond memories of Captain Curt Mitchell. I worked in the Trawler Department of FPI and had many dealings with him. He was a skilled Captain who earned the respect of many trawlermen who worked under his command. During those years we did training programs at Littledale and I spent many hours with him and his colleagues. The Christmas get together on the Burin Peninsula were the highlight of the season. I had to make sure Simani band were booked for the event and Curt and Goldie loved to dance to the music.
Sincere condolences to the family. Captain Curt’s legacy of kindness and storytelling will live on in all of you.

The memories and stories live on….the one trip together on our boat will forever remind me to never turn the tug into the sun….not a gentle reminder but direct words of wisdom from a storied skipper….
Cherish the memories of a life well loved. Thoughts are with all the family as you gather to say farewell….
Let go of the lines…it’s that time. .

Faye, Pam, Heather, Joe, Ralph and families....
We are sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. He was indeed a giant among offshore fishermen, working his way up from a sixteen
year old 'catchee' on a wooden banking schooner to becoming one of the most successful fishing captains that this province
ever produced.
Both of us considered ourselves fortunate to be friends of both your Mom and Dad back in the 1960s/70s when coming over
to go ski-dooing with them and their friends. There's been a lot of water gone under the bridge since then.
We know you have so many great family memories and you will cherish them.
Take care and God Bless.

To the whole family I send my condolences especially Pam and Heather whom were my colleagues,
My father Howard Dimmer cooked many meals for your father as they sailed together for FPI , as well there were my many drinks shared between our parents. Your parents were always spoken of with high praise over the years by my parents as well as everyone in the community. It was only very recently a gentleman who worked with your father asked me how he was doing when he learned I was from the Burin area. Curt left lasting memories well past his retirement which you all must be so very proud of. Enjoy your memories and keep them close to your heart and appreciate that he was present in your lives for so many years!
Thinking of you all

Dear Family of Captain Curtis Mitchell;
Please accept my condolences to you all.
Captain "Curt", as he was know among the fishing fleet was a true gentleman,
and an outstanding ambassador for the fishing industry and his community.
I will always remember him for his "low-key" ( almost whispering) replies on the radio-set,
and I always knew that I could trust him blindly whenever we discussed fishing-grounds,
fishing-gear and catches.
It was a real pleasure and a privilege to have worked alongside and known Curt,
and I'm proud to say that I can call myself a friend of his.
Rest In Peace Captain Curtis.
Captain Ulf Snarby
