Obituary of John Clarence Patten
PATTEN, John Clarence (Clar) - Born December 19, 1944 in Grand Bank, Newfoundland. Died September 2, 2022, predeceased by his loving wife Ardith (neé Dunford), and leaving daughters Beth and Ruth, sisters Maxine Rose (Tom), Louise Hickman (Max), brother Eli Patten and special niece Anne Hillier (Keith), as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends in Kelowna, Newfoundland, Australia and elsewhere. Predeceased by his sister Geraldine Matthews and parents Gerald and Georgie Patten.
He was a fantastic dad, husband, brother and a great friend to those fortunate enough to know him and to play the beautiful game of soccer alongside him. Soccer was his passion, and played with the Gee Bees (Grand Bank), Fieldians (St. John’s), Kelowna Kickers and Wagga Wagga soccer clubs, among others. He was an avid outdoorsman, dedicated teacher, and a joy to all those he encountered, making sure that whoever spoke with him left at least with a smile. We are so thankful for the time we've had with him, but are comforted that he is now with God our Heavenly Father, granting him peace and comfort as he rests in his loving arms.
A Memorial Service will be held at Serenity Funeral Home, located at 13 Church St in Grand Bank, Newfoundland at 2pm on Monday, September 5, 2022. A second Memorial Service will be held in Kelowna BC, date TBA. For further information please visit www.castanet.net
