Obituary of Leslie (Les) Irwin Elder
It is with great sadness that the family of Leslie (Les) Elder announce his passing on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the age of 71 years from Grand Bank, NL formerly of Langley, British Columbia.
Left always to keep his memory alive is the love of his life Violet of 33 years, sons Gordon, Dale, Scott of Langley, BC, John Hickey (Isabelle), daughter Lori Roy (Steve); grandchildren Sloane, Dylan, Matthew, Jordan, Tate, Sydney, Katelyn Roy; sister Marlene of Ashcroft, BC plus a large circle of other nephews, nieces, family and friends.
Les is predeceased by his parents Allan and Irene Elder.
Les was a man who loved with his entire heart and soul. He lived to love his wife Violet who was the love of his life. He will surely continue to watch over her until they meet again. His sense of humor was his super power and his quick wit was infectious. Driving was his passion, he had 31 years working as a truck driver. He loved to pester and tease and if he wasn't doing that he didn't like ya! He's laughing at this up there. No matter if he was having a good or bad day at this time of his life, His smile was a scowl and his scowl was his smile....it was up to you to guess which was which and he loved to keep ya guessing as to which was which. Les made no bones about this stage of his life. His wishes were simple and he wanted to be remembered privately by his family. As for the rest, if you want to pay him the greatest honour, write a letter to Webster’s Dictionary and ask them to include “Les Elder” in the definition of “jokester”! You’ll hear him laugh! Les will be truly missed by everyone that knew him. Rest in peace I know you’re always there, in our hearts, watching over and guiding us. We miss you so much.
In keeping with Les’s wishes cremation has taken place. He will be returning home to British Columbia for his final goodbye.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted Serenity Funeral Home, Grand Bank, NL.
