Obituary of Charles Stanley Walters
It is with great sadness the family of Charles Walters of Boat Harbour announce his passing at Blue Crest Nursing Home on March 1, 2024 at the age of 89 years.
He worked on the coast guard boats in the early 60’s and that was how he spent his life. He was quarter/master. The first boat he went on was the John Cabot he spent a few years there when he decided to try working on land so he took up a trade in heavy duty operator but his love of the sea took him back to work on the coast guard boats.
Charlie met the love of his life Edith from Brookside who he married and raised 8 beautiful children in Boat Harbour. They were married 53 years until Edith passed away in 2008.
Charlie loved to have a chat with anyone. You only had to meet him once and he was your friend. He was a fun, loving and very caring man.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his sons Harvey (Hazel), Boyd (Madeline), Rodney (Terry) and Winston (Liz); daughters Audrey (Wade), Yvonne, Elaine (Delbert) and Karen (Vance); 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; special friend Margaret plus a large circle of other family and friends.
Predeceased by wife Edith and siblings Everett, Harold, Louis, Freeman, Edith and Caroline.
Family will be accepting visitors on Sunday, March 3rd from 4-9PM, all day Monday and Tuesday from Church of Accession, Brookside.
Funeral will take place Wednesday, March 6th at 2PM from Church of Accession, Brookside with burial following at Anglican Cemetery, Boat Harbour.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin.
