Obituary of Calvin Smith
It is with great sadness the family of Calvin Smith of Brookside announce his passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on July 14th, 2024 at the age of 81 years.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Diane; daughter Tracey Butler (Shaun) of AB; sisters Winifred Smith of Marystown, Grace Lockyer (Earl) of Boat Harbour and Brenda Dicks (Bill) of Baine Harbour; brother Clifford Smith (Noreen) of Marystown; mother-in-law Ida Clarke of Little Harbour East; sisters-in-law Violet Smith, Catherine Smith, Daphne Rogers, Audrey Banfield (Kevin), Lucy Jane Clarke (Larry) and Nellie Pittiman (Kevin); brothers-in-law Bill Dean and Cecil Clarke (Darlene); special family friends Hester and Clayton Burton; hockey buddy Sam; special home care worker Denise Hawco (Denise was only in Calvin’s life a short time but made each day special and brightened his life with her care and smile) plus a large circle of other family and friends.
Predeceased by parents William and Florence Smith; brothers Thomas, Eric, Garland and Onslow; sisters Edith, Lillian and Beatrice and father-in-law Cecil Clarke.
Family will be accepting visitors and friends from Anglican Church of Ascension, Brookside Monday 7-9PM and all day Tuesday.
Funeral Service to take place from Church of Ascension, Brookside Wednesday, July 17th at 2PM with interment following at Anglican Cemetery, Brookside.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Church of Ascension Cemetery Fund , Brookside.
