Phil John to the many people who worked with him and John to family and close friends. John had the gift of gab. It didn’t matter if he knew you or not. He always had a story to tell. He laughed easily, we loved a cup of tea. He loved to play cribbage and we played many games over the years. We loved our cabin in Browns harbour, we spent many hours trouting, berry picking, hunting, bike riding, in the woods and having our boil ups.
His wit and humor were unmatched and he carried that to the end. He would always say he was the best looking or or that he always looked good. He had a a big heart and loved fiercely and was incredibly loyal. He was a giving person and whenever we could help someone, we did and in the words of his dear mother, “you will never want for what you gives.” Many houses he visited in Garnish, just for a yarn and a cup of tea.
John enjoyed his morning runs to Tim Hortons with his so many coffee buddies, teasing, tormenting, and lots of laughter. He made a lot of friends here in Burin and loved the card games at various places. His biggest accomplishment was to get the bridge across Garnish river.
A proud family man, John cherished the time spent with his loved ones, prioritizing family more than anything else. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and dedication that will forever be remembered. John’s warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In keeping with John’s wishes cremation has taken place.
